For the past few months, I have been taking part in the third wave of a project known as the Cannon Hill Collective, an amalgamation of young, talented artists based in Brum looking to further develop themselves within their art form, and within their career.
This time round, the project has been focused heavily on self-reflection; how we came to be who we are, not only in our work, but within ourselves. Working with facilitators Amy Martin & Louise Byng and collaborating with artists Leo Kay and Anna Smith from Unfinished Business, we explored definitions of ‘self’ through writing, meditation, post humanism study and a whole heap of other activities to try and get us to see the world in a different way. The culmination of this first part of the project is a self-reflective video that ties in with Leo & Anna’s project ‘Change My Mind‘. This took place after an intensive week in which we were tasked with the aforementioned activities.
