Human Right’s Day was easily one of the craziest days of my life. A football tournament in celebration of all things equality, we woke up at 5am and didn’t wrap up ’till gone 11pm. The awards ceremony was all a bit of a haze, but it was definitely a resounding success with roughly a thousand people turning up, cash prizes totalling more than R5000, celebrity guests such as Ruby star & humanitarian Chester Williams, and all the Boerewors roles you could eat.
It also felt like the message of the day sunk in, with people cheering for teams from all over Cape Town, both male & female and with black, white and coloured people playing on the same team…
